The Xiaomi Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro will be the gondola heads of the brand for the first half of 2021. The first smartphones equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 888, with a new design and ultra-fast charging, they confirm Xiaomi’s ambitions in the premium mobile segment.
A champion of value for money, Xiaomi is preparing to launch its new flagships with the first models of the Mi 11 series. Highly anticipated devices as their predecessors are popular. What’s new for Xiaomi with the Mi 11? At what price and date of release should we expect? What technical features are expected? These are all questions that we are answering in this matter.
Expected price of Xiaomi Mi 11
First indiscretions about the price of Xiaomi Mi 11 were revealed by Gizchina. Three smartphone variants would be available: a first with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, a second with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and a third with 12GB of RAM for 256GB of ROM. In its 8/128GB configuration, the Mi 11 would be marketed 4500 yuan in China, or about $670. With 256GB of internal memory, the price would increase to 4800 yuan, or just over $730. The top of the line version would be 5200 yuan, the equivalent of $800 after conversion. A special edition with leather hull would also be in preparation, and should logically cost more.
release date of Xiaomi Mi 11
The Xiaomi Mi 11 will be officially presented on December 28, 2020 at a conference led for the Chinese market. If the manufacturer follows the same strategy as usual, pre-orders will be open the same day in the Middle Empire for a proper release in early January 2021.
Xiaomi is expected to announce a European launch conference for Mi 11 soon. It is likely that this will happen very quickly, in early January, to cut the grass under the foot to Samsung which plans to announce its Galaxy S21 series as early as mid-January. In short, the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro will soon be available in our countries.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Design
Let’s start with the back. It seems that Xiaomi has reworked the photo block, which adopts a square shape with rounded corners. It is located in the upper left corner and bears a strong resemblance to most other manufacturers. The Mi 10 relied on sensors positioned vertically to the left.
The front is also redesigned, before the punch housing the front camera which is moved from the left to the center of the screen, always in the upper part. Between the new photo block and this choice for punch, the Mi 11 looks like Samsung Galaxy S or Recent Note. As with the OnePlus 9,the standard Mi 11 has a flat slab, while the Mi 11 Pro has a curved slab at the edges. The start button of the Mi 11 is bright red, as on the Mi 9T Pro for example. The Mi 11 Pro is more sober in this regard.
As far as colors are concerned, there are 4; blue, white, black, purple. It seems that the 12/256GB variant will be available in blue or purple. Finally, another special edition of vegan leather has also been reported.
The fingerprint reader is located in both cases under the screen. The charge is provided by USB-C port and there is no 3.5mm jack port for audio or a microSD card location for storage extension.
Xiaomi Mi 11 screen Size
The size of the screen is still unknown. The Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro were equipped with a 6.67-inch slab, we should once again find ourselves in these waters. But this year, the Pro model seems to have a slightly larger screen than the Mi 11. In any case, Amoled technology is expected.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 would offer a Full HD 1080p definition, in contrast to a 1440p Quad HD display in favor of the Mi 11 Pro. This last model has a refreshment frequency of 120 Hz. A leaker also mentions an artificial intelligence-based technology that can apply HDR (brighter colors, improved light intensity) or MEMC (artificial image addition for increased fluidity) to video content for better rendering.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Performance and Memory
If the Xiaomi Mi 11 will be one of the main attractions of early 2021, it is because it is the first smartphone to ship the new SoC Snapdragon 888 from Qualcomm. The chip succeeds the Snapdragon 865 on the high end and offers even more impressive performance. A benchmark of the Xiaomi Mi 11 confirms that we will have to deal with a monster of power. On Geekbench 5, he scored 1135 in single-core and 3790 in multi-core. This is enough to become a new benchmark for Android smartphones. Especially when engraved in 5nm, the Snapdragon 888 has a higher energy efficiency than the older models.
For the record, we already mentioned the different configurations a little earlier: 8/128GB, 8/256GB and 12/256GB. It is not yet said that the three proposals will be available in Europe.
Xiaomi Mi 11 battery, battery life and recharge
We can expect a good battery life on Xiaomi’s next flagships since a battery capacity of 4780 mAh is announced on the Mi 11, while the Mi 11 Pro would be entitled to an accumulator of 4970 mAh. You’ll still have to pay attention to its use if the QHD and 120 Hz are activated at the same time on the Mi 11 Pro. Both smartphones are compatible with a fast wire charging of 55W.
Wireless charging should be integrated on both devices, but no indication of charging power at this time. As a reminder, the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro offered a 30W wireless charge as well as a 5W inverted wireless charging to charge accessories with the smartphone’s battery.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 is expected to offer a triple photo sensor consisting of a 48MP main module, an ultra wide-angle sensor and a final lens whose use is as yet unknown. The Mi 11 Pro will benefit from a quadruple photo sensor, with a 50MP main camera, a 20MP module and two more of 12 MP each. Among them, there is certainly an ultra wide-angle sensor as well as a telephoto lens to make optical zooms. Xiaomi would use a pixel binning technique to create photos of a higher quality than one would expect from a 48 or 50 MP sensor, justifying the abandonment of the 108 MP photo sensor used on its premium 2020 cameras.
It is hoped that the manufacturer will bring software optimizations at the photo level to improve further in this area. In some situations, using the Gcam rather than the smartphone’s native camera gives better image results.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro run under the latest major version of Xiaomi’s homemade overlay: MIUI 12, based on Android 11. You can check out our dedicated folder to find out all the new features of the update, including a revamped interface and better animation quality.
The Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro will receive several updates of features, Xiaomi is considered generous in this matter. Starting with MIUI 12.5, which should even be presented on December 28 at the same time as the Mi 11 and available by OTA update from the day of the release of smartphones. In Europe, it is even possible that the Mi 11 series will be marketed with MIUI 12.5 natively installed.
Then, MIUI 13, still based on Android 11, should add new features and offer many improvements: animations, new themes, gestures, interface, photo and video editing tool, revision of Always on Display mode, more storage management options, redesigned notification system.
